The Cardiff Philharmonic in the heart of Cardiff, Wales had an all-Tchaikovsky concert scheduled for next week but guess what? It won’t happen, it’s been permanently canceled because the legendary 19th century composer is guilty of being a Russian:

The Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra has removed Tchaikovsky from its programme of its upcoming concert ‘in light of the recent Russian invasion’.

Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture was due to be included in the orchestra’s upcoming all-Tchaikovsky concert at St David’s Hall on 18 March, but it was considered by the orchestra ‘to be inappropriate at this time’.

Why stop at music? If our cultural custodians were fair, they should signal their virtue by canceling all the great Russian writers too. You better put away your Dostoevsky and Chekhov before Democrats pass legislation and then shame you or get you fired from your job for having those authors in your personal library.

Our current “woke” society is dominated by a series of frenzied lynch mobs, running around the village with pitchforks and torches, looking for something to burn so as to show off their worthy righteousness. If we the people don’t stand up to them at some point, our heritage will be lost forever.

Once everyone from the past has been canceled, we will be left with only modern composers or writers. Imagine trying to sit through a concert of the crappy ass music being composed today. Maybe they could set off a car alarm on stage as a tribute to the music of Yoko Ono or a cat doing the collected works of John Cage by walking back and forth on a piano. Give the cat a dose of quaaludes and it could play the complete works of Morton Feldman.

But resistance to this “woke” mob of maniacs does havea price:

Conductor Valery Gergiev has been at the centre of the news lately, having refused to condemn the Russian regime and the rule of his friend Vladimir Putin. He has been dropped by management, festivals and concert series, and has lost roles at the Munich Philharmonic the Edinburgh International Festival.

If conductors have to pass some sort of political purity test to earn a living, Putin isn’t the tyrant we need to be worried about. We have tyranny here in the West to deal with.

  1. OK, this got to me. These simple 3rd grade mental cases are past salvation. Brass might be the only answer…
