The recall of California Gov. Gavin Newsom is getting closer, and candidate Larry Elder spoke at Lancaster Baptist Church a few weeks ago.

Lancaster Baptist Pastor Paul Chappell said they are always glad to welcome folks that want to make an influence in the community.

“A lot of us have been so concerned about our religious freedoms, about the ineptitude of government to deal with homelessness and a variety of other issues, obviously all the way to the Biblical issues of being pro-life and pro-family,” said Chappell. “So, we welcome a voice that’s closer to the Biblical message and we are glad to have Larry this Sunday at Lancaster Baptist.”

The recall election is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14th. As explained by NBCSanDiego.com, registered voters will be asked only two questions on the 2021 Gubernatorial Recall Election ballot:

Do you want to recall the governor?
If recalled, who do you want to replace him?

The first question will remove Governor Newsom from office. The second will decide which of the 46 candidates will replace Newsom.

“There will be no option to select Newsom in the second question,” says the NBC affiliate. “The only way to vote for him is to vote against the recall.”

Pastor Chappell believes there is an actual momentum toward the recall.

“Governor Newsom is not a very well liked governor,” he said. “He has broken his own rules regarding COVID, (and) the ways that so many government leaders has approached COVID requirements has been very draconian and unsympathetic and at times unconstitutional, so, I believe there will be reverberations for that and we want to encourage someone who is closer to biblical values.”
