It is important to note that the IDF and some Israeli governments, for years, have not only consulted lawyers and the Israeli courts to make decisions on official protocols or rules of engagement but they have also consulted with Rabbis who deal with this topic in halacha (Jewish Torah law). They do this to make sure we not only do things legally but also ethically as ethics can only come from Torah (not from humans). This doesn’t mean that the IDF or Israeli government take the advice and commandments of the Torah to make protocols, we wish they did, but rather they consult on whether their decisions to do things are “kosher” so to speak.
