According to Benz, the OCCRP, an investigative journalism group partly funded by USAID and the State Department, was behind digging up dirt on figures like Rudy Giuliani and Paul Manafort. This dirt, which was used in the impeachment process, was sponsored by taxpayer money and linked to the U.S. government’s foreign policy agenda, particularly concerning Ukraine. Benz claims that without USAID’s involvement, the impeachment would not have happened.
