Antonio Ferretti was an Italian engineer who invented “Lanital” in 1935, a synthetic, wool-like fiber derived from milk casein protein. Developed to replace wool during economic sanctions.
The fiber was produced by extracting casein from skimmed milk, turning it into a powder, dissolving it into a slurry, and then spinning it through spinnerets.
