Mother who lost her son in the “Kids-for-Cash” scheme speaks out after President Biden pardoned one of the men she accuses of k*lling her child.
Sandy Fonzo is famous for berating a judge for accepting kickbacks to send children to for-profit detention facilities.
Biden pardoned Judge Michael Conahan this week who accepted $2.1 million in kickbacks from detention facilities.
Fonzo’s son committed su*cide after being imprisoned under the scheme.
“I am shocked and I am hurt… Conahan‘s actions destroyed families, including mine, and my son‘s de*th is a tragic reminder of the consequences of his abuse of power,” she said to The Citizen’s Voice.
“This pardon feels like an injustice for all of us who still suffer.”
Conahan was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison in 2011.
Fonzo went viral over a decade ago when she was seen screaming at former judge Mark Ciavarella who was also involved in the scheme.
