The Asch conformity experiments were a series of psychological experiments originally conducted in the 1950s.
The experiments revealed the degree to which people were willing to ignore the evidence of their own eyes and give incorrect answers to a simple visual test in order to conform to the rest of a group.
Nearly 75% of the participants went along with the rest of the group at least one time.
