A blind item is essentially a coded Hollywood story that keeps the identity of the protagonists hidden. This provokes the readers to do their own research so they can submit their own theories and blind items. Details of stories are shared, but the identities of those involved remain anonymous until a certain point when the author reveals them, usually months after the original publishing date. It is important to note that blind items don’t protect the publisher legally. In law lingo, innuendo means ”an indirect hint,” which can be used in defamation lawsuits to establish that the complainant/plaintiff is the person about whom defamatory statements appeared in a blind item. These coded stories were made popular, in large part, thanks to Enty Lawyer, an anonymous blogger who claims to have several connections that supply him with a regular stream of content for the Crazy Days and Nights website. In this case, we take a look at some stories involving actors Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Woody Harrelson, Jared Leto, and Ashton Kutcher, or musicians Michael Stipe, Elton John, and music mogul David Geffen, to name a few.
