It’s something Dr. Anthony Fauci can’t quite explain.
“I’m not really quite sure,” he told MSNBC this week. “It could be they’re doing things outdoors.”
Daily cases in Texas hovered above 7,000 in early March, when Gov. Greg Abbott lifted the state’s mask rules, leaving it up to individuals and organizations to make their own decisions.
Now, according to the Centers for Disease Control, new cases of COVID-19 are under 4,000.
Fauci noted there can be a delay in how and when cases manifest.

On Friday, President Joe Biden’s Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered the Department of Defense to create a new commission to study extremism within the ranks and ordered all U.S. military branches to update their screening questionnaires to question military recruits about their current or past links to extremist groups.
Austin announced the order in a memorandum provided to American Military News. The memo states, “The secretaries of the Military Departments will update and standardize accession screening questionnaires to solicit specific information about current or previous extremist behavior.”

An online gamer successfully pretended to be a White House reporter and even managed to pose questions to President Biden’s press secretary, according to a new report.
A person who created an online profile as “Kacey ‘Lego’ Montagu” and presented herself as a correspondent for the fictitious “White House News” duped legitimate members of the White House press corps into asking her questions at briefings at least four times, according to a report from Politico.
The imposter is believed to be active in the online global gaming platform called ROBLOX, where users jokingly call themselves “Legos.” The person didn’t reveal his or her true identity when reached by Politico but expressed frustration with how the real press is asking questions.

Nearly 40% of US Marines are declining Covid-19 vaccinations, according to data provided to CNN on Friday by the service, the first branch to disclose service-wide numbers on acceptance and declination.
As of Thursday, approximately 75,500 Marines have received vaccines, including fully vaccinated and partially vaccinated service men and women. About 48,000 Marines have chosen not to receive vaccines, for a declination rate of 38.9%.
CNN has reached out to the other services for acceptance and declination rates.
The corresponding acceptance rate for vaccinations among Marines — 61.1% — is not far off the military estimate of two-thirds, or about 66%.
Another 102,000 Marines have not yet been offered the vaccines. The total number of Marines includes active-duty, reserves and Individual Mobilization Augmentee Marines.

Of course, the ruling is insane and adds more confusion to the election process. The Wisconsin Institute for Law and liberty says it is now up to the legislature to ensure fair and free elections and fix the law. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday that state election officials do not have to quickly take people off the voter rolls when they suspect they may have moved. The 5-2 ruling means the Wisconsin Elections Commission will not force tens of thousands of people off the rolls near a major election, such as the 2022 contest for governor and U.S. Senate.
From the outset, the case has been fraught with politics. Conservatives who brought the lawsuit said they wanted to make sure the state’s voter lists are accurate, while Democrats and election officials warned a change in state policy could result in some voters being bumped off the rolls when they shouldn’t be.
