So what exactly is this new trending hashtag (#OcasioCortezSmollet) on Twitter?
Well, remember this?
Sandy (AOC) Cortez has claimed that a Capitol Police officer tried evacuating her and was “hostile” toward her which triggered some sort of PTSD or something.
Ok, well, Twitchy noted that many media outlets have been quietly deleting previous tweets regarding this detail so they wouldn’t have to walk back their audience’s interpretation that a member of the mob, rather than an officer, was in her office……
Check out the excerpt from Newsweek that Mace posted: “Ocasio-Cortez said that rioters actually entered her office, forcing her to take refuge inside her bathroom after her legislative director Geraldo Bonilla-Chavez told her to ‘hide, hide, run and hide.’” Newsweek also reported, “As members of the mob banged against her door, Ocasio-Cortez believed “this was the moment where I thought everything was over.”
We just checked Newsweek for that story, but it reads a little differently now:
Ocasio-Cortez said that an individual actually entered her office, forcing her to take refuge inside her bathroom after her legislative director Geraldo Bonilla-Chavez told her to “hide, hide, run and hide.”
So “rioters” became “an individual,” although Newsweek’s story still reads, “As members of the mob banged against the door, Ocasio-Cortez believed ‘this was the moment where I thought everything was over.’” Newsweek did add a correction, though, clarifying, “Ocasio-Cortez’s office was actually entered by a Capitol police officer that did not identify himself.” So he forced her to take refuge in the bathroom?
Ben Smith, media columnist for The New York Times notes how Tweets are being deleted left and right.
Haley Byrd Wilt, associate editor for The Dispatch pointed out that “The Today Show” also appeared to have deleted a tweet with their segment on the story….
Rep. Nancy Mace says none of what Sandy (AOC) Cortez says in her video ever even happened.
Just to give you some perspective here’s the layout of the Capitol grounds from a tweet by political activist Jack Posobiec. Please note the distance of Sandy (AOC) Cortez’s office in the Cannon building is from the Capitol building….
And here’s Jack Posobiec’s original Tweet where he Fact Checks Sandy (AOC) Cortez’s account of that day…
These revelations seem to have angered Sandy (AOC) Cortez because she quickly grabbed her phone and Tweeted her response…
Twitchy points out that Sandy (AOC) Cortez suggests that people don’t know the layout of Washington D.C. but, yeah they actually do.
So in truth, no rioters were even on the same side of the street as Cortez. Ever.
Which reminds me of this Meme from 3 years ago…
